Twelve Days of Christmas Ornaments – Day One – Argentina
To lighten the Holiday Season, we decided to share our Christmas tree one ornament at a time and call it the “12 Days of Christmas Ornaments.” The tree really should be renamed a “Memory” tree as it is a historical review of our family travels. Each ornament on the tree represents a place we visited together or a special thing the girls thought important. When we put up the tree each year, the girls giggle, argue who puts up what, and recall simple memories of each ornament. It has become a tradition of laughing, reminiscing, and happiness.
To start it off, Day One, let’s do Argentina.
This ornament comes from the Tres Fontieras of South America. We went to Iguazi falls and witnessed the amazement of water and the thievery of Nature. The falls were the amazement, the thievery was this little guy. It’s a Coati, or the raccoon of Argentina. This mischievous rascal zooms around stealing french fries off your plate when you’re not looking. Long snout, beedy eyes, puffy tail – all the tell tale signs of a cartoon villain.
As a whole, we laughed quite a bit as other tourist were victimized by these guys. We saw them coming and were ready, but not so for several people that ended up buying lunch twice.
So here’s to you Coati, you little rascal. You are Day One.
